Good resources(articles/books) for gaining Fundamental Psychological insights(as opposed to some run of the mill facts) ----------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.futurepsychiatry.com/ (A long book by Dr. Niall Mclaren, Australia lashing out heavily against several psychological theories, their lack of logic and the unscientific religion-like approach to psychology that is widely prevalent. Rather long, but worth skimming through). -------------------------------------------------------- http://www.psy.pdx.edu/PsiCafe/KeyTheorists/ http://www.soulwork.net http://www.creativegrowth.com/teresa.htm http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/3691/104810 ----------------------------------------------------------- I found Eric Berne's transactional analysis rather useful and insightful. Most Psychological literature is relatively useless and uninsightful stuff, written very ambiguously and with usage of high sounding jargon that in reality doesn't mean anything great or precise. I feel Eric Berne's writings are fairly compact, precise and insightful. Here is a quote by Eric Berne that applies heavily to most psychological literature: "In general, the less people know about a subject, the longer it takes them to explain it. E = mc^2 tells us more about teh universe than the whole Alexandrian library did, and a prescription for penicillin is a better solution for pneumonia than all the medieval universities in Europe had to offer." Here are a couple of Berne's books that I found rather useful: 1. Games People Play 2. What do you say after you say hello? After reading Richard Feynman's "The meaning of it all", even Berne's writings are seeming somewhat imprecise to me. But it still wins hands down over most other writings in Psychology such as those by Freud. Please let me know if you know of some good/insightful resources on psychology. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another couple of Decent Books: Why Men Lie and Women Cry Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps Authors: Allan Pease and Barbara Pease I found these much superior to John Gray's "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus".
