AUTHOR:: Kagstrom, Bo T. AUTHOR:: Dooren, Paul M. Van DATE:: July 1991 PAGES:: 15 ABSTRACT:: In this paper we derive a direct method for block tridiagonalizing a single-input single-output system triple $/{A,b,c/}$. The method is connected to the nonsymmetric Lanczos procedure developed in [Wilkinson, 1965][Boley/Golub, 1990][Boley/Elhay/Golub/Gutknecht, 1990] and also leads to canonical representations of such triples.
