BIB-VERSION:: CS-TR-v2.0 ID:: STAN//CSL-TR-78-154 ENTRY:: December 01, 1994 ORGANIZATION:: Stanford University, Computer Systems Laboratory TITLE:: NOTES ON MODELLING OF COMPUTER SYSTEMS AND NETWORKS TYPE:: Technical Report AUTHOR:: Yu, Philip S. DATE:: April 1978 PAGES:: 47 ABSTRACT:: Formulation of given computer system or network problems into abstract stochastic models is considered. Generally speaking, model formulation is an art. While analytic results are clearly not powerful enough to provide a "cookbook" approach to modelling, general methodology and difficulties on model formulation are discussed through examination of various computer system and network models. These models are presented in a systematic way based on the hierarchical approach. NOTES:: [Adminitrivia V1/Prg/19941201] END:: STAN//CSL-TR-78-154
