Abstract: This paper describes the latest methods of rollback recovery for fault-tolerant distributed shared memory (DSM) multiprocessors. This report discusses (1) the theoretical issues that rollback recovery addresses, (2) the 3 major classes of methods for recovery, and (3) the relative merits of each class.
